BioFund Animal Health is the animal health and nutrition research arm of BioFund — advancing science that cares for animals in their own right, and translates that care into meaningful advances for both species.
The OneHealth conviction is simple: the biology of disease — how tumours form, how inflammation progresses, how the immune system fails — is largely conserved across species. Companion animals develop the same cancers, the same metabolic disorders, the same chronic conditions that affect people. That is not a coincidence. It is an opportunity — to do science that genuinely helps both.
BioFund Animal Health operates from that conviction. Every programme we support, every partnership we build, every ingredient we validate begins from the same premise: that animals deserve the full weight of scientific ambition — and that the science which follows from genuinely caring for them turns out to be extraordinarily useful for human health as well.
Companion animals naturally develop cancers that mirror human disease — in biology, progression, and response to treatment. Our oncology programmes validate therapeutics in companion animals first: faster, more ethical, and more predictive than conventional development models. The animals are treated to be helped. The data that results advances both veterinary and human medicine simultaneously.
What animals eat, absorb, and metabolise shapes much of their long-term health. We develop functional nutrition programmes — harnessing ultra-fine particle technology to unlock the full bioavailability of natural compounds — targeting chronic inflammation, immune resilience, and the conditions that precede disease. Prevention is slow to prove and unglamorous to fund. It is also where the largest gains are made.
BioFund Animal Health is a collaborative research platform. We co-develop programmes with veterinary institutions, animal health companies, pet nutrition brands, agricultural research bodies, and any organisation bringing genuine scientific or strategic value to the table. Co-funding structures are project-specific and designed around shared goals and mutual benefit.
Whether you are a veterinary researcher with a question our platform could help answer, an animal health company seeking a credible and independent R&D partner, a pet nutrition brand wanting to validate a functional ingredient, or a foundation aligned with the OneHealth mission — we want to hear from you.
There is no submission process. No investment committee to impress. No pitch deck to prepare. We are genuinely curious about the people working in this space, and open to exploring whether a collaboration makes sense for both sides.
The ask is simple: bring something real to the table, and come ready to build.
